The Seasons

The Argentinian Connection

Travel to Buenos Aires and explore the music of one of its most revered and reviled composers, Astor Piazzolla.

Opening with a celebration of Summer, join Songmakers Australia as they follow Piazzolla not only through the seasons, but also the streets, the hours and the feelings of his favourite city. His songs, less well known than his instrumental music, reveal the destinations of his exiles and triumphs, Paris, Rome, and back to his only true love, Argentina.

Featuring pianist Andrea Katz (whose ongoing personal connection to the music of Piazzolla stems from a meeting with the man himself while a teenaged music student in Argentina), bass-baritone Nicholas Dinopoulos and guests Ensemble Nonino, don’t miss this extraordinary tribute to one of tango’s most influential musical figures.
